Worker Safety Policy
1. Safety is part of the work, not an afterthought
ApnaChowk was built to bring more trust, more dignity, and more safety to everyday work — for the people who do it and the people who need it done. Whether you are a worker looking for the next job or someone hiring help, we want every connection made here to feel safe and fair.
This page explains the safety tools we provide, what we ask of everyone on the platform, and — importantly — where our role ends and yours begins.
2. Our role, stated plainly
ApnaChowk is a platform that connects workers and employers. We are not the employer, we do not supervise or control the work, and we are not a party to the arrangement you make with the other person. The actual work, the wage, and the conditions are agreed directly between the worker and the employer.
What we do is give both sides tools to make that connection safer: clear information, a code of conduct, a way to report problems, and trust signals like ratings. Accident protection for confirmed bookings is something we are working towards, but it is not in place today (see Booking Protection & Insurance).
In short: we facilitate and we protect where we can. Safety at the worksite remains the shared responsibility of the worker and the employer.
3. What ApnaChowk provides
- Clear job information so workers know what they are agreeing to before they go.
- A code of conduct that everyone on the platform accepts.
- A way to report unsafe situations, unfair treatment, or bad behaviour, by writing to our grievance channel at hello@apnachowk.com.
- Trust signals — ratings and reviews — so both sides can make informed choices.
- Booking protection — accident cover for confirmed bookings is planned but not yet available, and no cover is in force today (see the Booking Protection page).
4. For workers — staying safe on the job
- Read the job details carefully before you accept. If something is unclear, ask.
- Agree the wage and the scope of work before you start.
- Tell a family member or friend where you are going and when you expect to be back.
- Use appropriate safety equipment for your trade and never take on work that feels unsafe.
- Trust your instincts. If a situation feels wrong, you are free to leave — no job is worth your safety.
- Report any unsafe worksite, unfair treatment, or misconduct by writing to our grievance channel at hello@apnachowk.com.
5. For employers — providing a safe engagement
- Provide accurate, honest job information.
- Ensure the worksite is reasonably safe and that any materials or equipment you provide are fit for use.
- Honour the wage and terms you agreed.
- Treat every worker with dignity and respect.
- Report any misconduct or concern by writing to our grievance channel at hello@apnachowk.com.
6. Reporting a safety concern
If you experience or witness something unsafe, abusive, or dishonest, write to our grievance channel at hello@apnachowk.com. Every report is reviewed. Depending on the situation, we may issue a warning, remove content, or suspend an account. Serious safety concerns should also be reported to the local authorities — ApnaChowk is not an emergency service and cannot intervene at a worksite.
7. What ApnaChowk does not do (so there is no confusion)
- We do not employ workers or place them under any contract of employment with ApnaChowk.
- We do not supervise, inspect, or control any worksite.
- We do not guarantee the conduct, quality, or safety practices of any worker or employer.
- We are not present at the work and cannot intervene in real time.
We provide the tools and the standards. The responsibility for a safe working relationship rests with the two people who form it.
8. Zero tolerance
Harassment, abuse, threats, discrimination, or knowingly unsafe practices have no place on ApnaChowk. Accounts found responsible may be suspended or permanently removed.
This Worker Safety Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
